Obituary of Jacqueline Ann Childers

Bedford Jacqueline Ann Childers, 79, of Bedford, died at 1:02 pm on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born December 17, 1933 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John and Lottie (Child) Hamer. She was a teacher at Oakland City College; a legal secretary for Don Hickman, Attorney; and secretary at the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Tri Kappa and Chi Omega Sororities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was active in the sewing circle making teddy bears for children in local hospitals. Survivors include two daughters, Lori Elkins and husband, Jim, Kelly McDowell and husband, Darren all of Bedford; two sons, Jay and Mike Childers both of Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia(Gee) Lucas and husband, Jim of GA, Helen Lahrman and husband, Bob of Brownstown and Doris (Dee) Hamer of OR; a brother, John Hamer and wife, Cathy of MO; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Debbie Gamble and a great nephew, C.J. Gamble. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6th at the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford with Pastor Mark McDaniel officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Hamer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, June 6th at the First Presbyterian Church.
