Obituary of James Donald Anderson

Bedford James Donald (Bill) Anderson, 76, of Bedford, died at 5:44 pm on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at his residence. Born July 4, 1931 in Greene Co., IN, he was the son of Glade and Rena (Owens) Anderson. He married Marie Peirano on May 20, 1955 and she survives. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. When his tour of duty was completed, his commanding officer called Bill in. He told Bill he was a great Marine and pointed to the globe on his desk and told him he could transfer anywhere in the world if he would re-enlist. Bill asked if Bedford, Indiana was on that globe as that was where he was headed. Home and family were the most important things in Bills life. He retired as a salesman for ITT Continental-Wonder Bread in Bloomington. He was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church and Union Local #135. Bills granddaughter, Madeline was the light of his life. She called him Bab and they were best buddies. Bab enjoyed taking Madeline everywhere he went. He drove from Bedford to Bloomington daily to pick her up from school. Survivors include his wife, Marie and granddaughter, Madeline, who was the light of his life; two daughters, Debbie Anderson of Bedford and Patty Anderson of Bloomington; three sisters, Kathleen Garner of Georgia, Corrine Deckard of Michigan and Norma Anderson of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Ruth Anderson; three brothers, John, Dean and Dale Anderson; two sisters, Gayle Condiff and Phyllis Ann Anderson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, August 13th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Wendy VanderZee officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the grave side by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 12th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, August 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
