Obituary of Rosalie Joanne Chase

BedfordRosalie Joanne Hert Chase, 75, of 141 Edgewood, passed away at 5:04 A.M. Saturday, February 21st at her residence. Born on November 8, 1928 in Springville, IN she was the daughter of Ralph O. Hert and Fern Irene (Guthrie) Hert. She retired from the Hooks Drug Store in Bedford after working twenty-four years. After having a log home built on one of the farms for the children of her fourth daughter, she researched the history of the farm back one hundred years of being farmed by the same family and was awarded the Homestead Award at the State House in Indianapolis by the Lt. Governor. This was her second award from the state of Indiana. Governor Welsh had awarded her for helping conduct a survey for the aged through Indiana University. A member of the First Christian Church of Bedford, she was also a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution. She married Robert D. Chase on November 9, 1946 and he survives. Surviving with her husband, Robert of Bedford, are three daughters: Debra S. Chase of Bloomington, IN; Darla D. Whitmill of Bedford and DeAndrea Shawn Barger of Springville; six grandchildren: Michael Rodenberger, Melissa Green, Jacob B. Whitmill, Martha L. Whitmill, Levi C. Barger and Clinton D. Barger and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Deiadra Diane Rodenberger and a brother Jack D. Hert. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 25th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bob Dailey and Rev. Merla Craig. Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary on Tuesday, February 24th from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
