Obituary of V. Evelyn Charles

Bedford V. Evelyn Charles, 91, of 703 27th Street, Bedford, died at 10:50 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Westview Nursing and Rehab. in Bedford. Born April 10, 1919 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John F. and Bertha Mae (Dorsett) York. She married Kenneth Sears and he preceded her in death. She later married Buck Charles. She was a homemaker and had worked for SS. Kreske, RCA and Sarkes-Tarzian. She was a member of Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene and attended the Oolitic Trinity Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her children, Violet Carol Clark Mikels and husband, Claude, Paul E. Sears and wife, Terri Ellen, Bucky Charles and wife, Linda all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Kim Maners, Jerry Clark, II, Teresa Lynn Allen, Paul Brian Sears, Rachel Hillenburg, Bucky E. Charles and Jamie Hunt; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her special friend, Marvin Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Daniel Kenneth Sears; two brothers, Ed and John York; a sister, Dorothy Tillett and one great great grandchild. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 31st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
