Obituary of Ilena Chapman

Monticello, IN Ilena Chapman, 91, of Monticello, IN, formerly of Williams, IN, died at 2:20 am on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Monticello Assisted Living Center in Monticello. Born August 28, 1917 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ben and Hazel (Chaney) Shelton. She married Everett Chapman in 1937 and he died in 1973. She worked a M. Fine & Sons for many years and at the Monticello Health Care. She attended the Port William Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Kaye Jeffries of Bedford; one grandson, Dana Jeffries and his wife, Deb of Covington, IN; three great-grandchildren, Kevin Jeffries of Covington, Sally Moore of Kingman, IN and Dustin Wilson of Bloomington, IL; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Shelton of Bloomington, IN and Wanda Martin of Bedford; one brother, Orville Dude Shelton of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, James and Gerald Shelton; four sisters, Louise Johnson, Regina Chase, Frances Tarrants and Marcella Shelton (in infancy). Funeral Information Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 20th at Port William Cemetery. Burial will follow. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
