Obituary of Thelma E. Jackson
Bedford Thelma E. Jackson, 88, of Bedford, formerly of Bono, died at 6:55 pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born November 30, 1924 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Leo and Lillie (Gaddis) Johnson. She married Derrell Jackson on August 5, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She retired from Sarkes-Tarzian, Inc. in Bloomington, a member of the Bono Methodist Church, Sportsmans Club, V.F.W. Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She was past president of the Methodist Womens Club. She was a dedicated Christian, loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved cook outs, family get togethers and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, David Jackson and wife, Wilma, Robert Jackson and wife, Andra all of Bedford; three daughters, Mary Stibbe and husband, Richard of Granger, IN, Fannie Lee and companion, David, Doris Sullivan and husband, Lee, all of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Sharon LaRoche and a son, Samuel Jackson; three brothers, Kenneth, Lester and Clyde Johnson; a sister, Lucille Robinson and a granddaughter, Kim Herod. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Emery Dean Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
