Obituary of James H. Canada

Bedford James H. Canada, 82, of Bliss House, formerly of Breckenridge Road in Bedford, died at 1:12 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Morgan Hospital and Health Center in Martinsville. Born December 8, 1926 in Oolitic, he was the son of Gilbert and Lilly H. (Smith) Canada. He retired from Summitt & Evans Stone Co. in Bedford. He married Ellen B. Brown on June 26, 1952 and she survives. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Survivors include one daughter, E. Roberta Plummer and her husband, Marty of Bedford; two sons, Nathan H. Canada and his wife, Marsha of Indianapolis, A. Scot Canada and his wife, Jill of New Palestine; two grandsons, Eric Canada and his wife, Kim and Jeremy Plummer; two great grandsons, Jesse Plummer and Ryan Canada; one brother, Marvin Canada of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lucy Owen and Sue Burton; one brother, Charles Canada. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 28th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
