Obituary of Billy J. Abel

Owensburg Billy J. Abel, 57, of R 3 Box 316D, Bloomfield, died at 11:42 am on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Bloomington Hospital. Born April 17, 1948 in Orange Co., IN, he was the son of Pete and Luella (Collins) Abel. He married Shirley Andis on December 2, 1966 and she survives. He was retired from the NWSC CRANE and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Springville Pentecostal Mission Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Owensburg; one son, Jeff Abel and his wife, Julie of Bedford; one daughter, Melissa Plummer and her husband, Tony of Owensburg; six grandchildren, Natasha Jones, Brad Jones, Alicia Jones, Bristen Prince, Logan Lane and Tyler Abel; four sisters, Alice Farris and Joy Sterns both of Florida, Kay Pruett of Williams and Kathy Cornwell of California; seven brothers, Ralph Abel of Florida, Larry Abel of Kentucky, Terry Abel of Harrodsburg, Robert Abel of Needmore, Max Abel ofTunnelton, Garet and Dave Abel both of Williams and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Abel. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 26th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Melvin Paules officiating. Burial will follow in the Byers-Rainbolt Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 25th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday, October 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. View Video Tribute
