Obituary of Carol F. Callahan
Bedford Carol F. Callahan, 90, of Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:10 am on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born March 23, 1921 in Seymour, she was the daughter of Howard & Fidella (Robertson) Callahan. She worked as a bookkeeper for Stone City Products in Bedford for thirty years. She was a Certified Lay Speaker who pastored at Oolitic United Methodist Church and Meadows Church of God. Carol loved her family, reading her Bible and sewing. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and also attended the Bedford First Church of God. She led many Bible studies and was actively involved in Child Evangelism and youth ministry for many years. She touched many lives with these activities.
She is survived by two nieces, Phyllis Callahan and Brenda (J.B.) Willoughby both of Bedford; three nephews, David (Susan) Callahan of Bedford, William Callahan of Indianapolis and Wayne (Tonya) Callahan of Texas; two sisters-in-law, Lavon Callahan of Bedford and Jean Callahan of Martinsville; several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Donald, Harold and Louis Callahan; a niece, Lois Anderson and her step-mother, Viola (Robertson) Callahan, who raised the children upon their mothers early death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ronnie McLain officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday, April 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, Carol has requested that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship or the Salvation Army.
