Obituary of Walter Allen

Bedford Walter Calvin Allen, 78, of 6302 Sandpit Road, Bedford, died at 1:03 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Putnum Co. Hospital in Greencastle. Born March 2, 1926 in Martin Co., IN, he was the son of Everrett and Jesse (McKibbens) Allen. He married Virginia Melvin and she survives. He was retired from General Motors in Indianapolis and a member of the Central Church of Christ. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the United State Marine Corps. Surviving with his wife, Virginia, are two daughters, Celeste Blanton of Greencastle and Anita Allen of Coral Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Dr. Demetrius Patton, Derek Patton, Crystal Blanton, Aaron Allen, Wyatt Allen and Jordan Allen; eight great grandchildren, Chaise, Elijah, Dominic, Jalin, Madeline, Molly, Orion and Elaine; four sisters, Pauline Tuttle, Martha Kidwell, Ethel Tow and Phyllis Kidwell all of Shoals. He was preceded in death by his parents, other brothers and sisters and one daughter, Elaine Allen. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 18th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Wilbur Fields and Billy Kidwell officiating. Graveside committal service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday at Springhill Cemetery in Shoals. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 17th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
