Obituary of George A. Abbott

George A. Abbott, 67, of Leesburg, FL, passed away at 3:55 am on Thursday, January 8th, 2004 at his residence. Born August 16, 1936 in Iowa, he was the son of Lyman (Gus) and Dorthea (Oswandle) Abbott. He married Sharon K. Grimes on May 18, 1985 and she survives. He was retired from the Indiana State police and of protestant faith. He was a member of the Indiana Troopers Benevolence Association and a member of the Indiana National Guard. Surviving with his wife, Sharon of Leesburg, Fl are a son, Gary B. and his wife Jane of Bedford and a daughter, Diane C. and her husband, David Klumpp of Bedford. Two step-sons: Mike Grimes and his wife, Sheila of Muncie, IN and Phillip Grimes and wife, Dixean of Idaho Falls, ID. Five grandchildren: Kara, Eric and Kayla Abbott & Chelsea and Miles Klumpp. Six step-grandchildren: Kara Cazee, Mike Grimes, Robert Gammon, Mackenzie, Trevor & Kyler Grimes. Five step-great grandchildren: Kaylen, Taylor & Jayden Carter & Macie and Madelynn Grimes. Three Brothers: Bill Abbott of Florida, Charles (Chuck) Abbott of Nevada and Mark Abbott of Michigan. Three sisters: Marilyn Robertson of Arizona, Dorothy Brandt of Iowa & Lynn McCloud of North Carolina. Also survived by he Stepmother, Joan Johnson Abbott. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Richard Abbott. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Indiana State Police Chaplin officiating. Entombment will follow at the Cresthaven Mausoleum. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 12th at Day & Carter Mortuary. Also from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour on Tuesday.
