Obituary of Marvin L. Allen

Bedford Marvin L. Allen, 73, our beloved husband and father, went to be with the Lord at 5:40 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2006. Born September 9, 1932 in Bedford, he was the son of Cleatis and Trella (Crawford) Allen. He married Rilla Jo Baker on October 19, 1956 and she survives. Marvin retired from the trucking industry and was a co-owner of A & B Trophies. He was an usher at Indiana University for basketball and football games. He later retired from the Times-Mail. He attended the Oolitic United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler and BNL basketball fan. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Surviving with his wife, Rilla Jo are two daughters, Dana L. Pruett and her husband, Philip of Oolitic and Debbie Jo Ikerd and her husband, Steve of Bedford; one son, Darren Allen and his wife, Theresa of Springville; one brother, Donald W. Allen and his wife, Dolores of Bedford; grandchildren, Michael Pruett, Craig Pruett, Amanda Jo Ikerd, Cody Ikerd, Kayla Jo Allen and Benjamin Sparks; great grandchildren, Seth and Shelby Pruett; several cousins, nieces and nephews; Dolores of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard (in infancy). Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, August 21st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dan Voorhies officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 20th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
