Obituary of Carolyn J. Bowers

Bedford Carolyn J. Bowers, 79, of Bedford, died at 8:01 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born July 4, 1928 in Hollywood, CA, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Clella (Adams) Howard. She married William Bowers on December 29, 1946 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1993. She was retired from the Times-Mail. She loved baking chocolate chip cookies, crocheting blankets and playing with her great-great grandchildren. Carolyn was a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She was a den leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a caregiver. Carolyn will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Survivors include two sons, William H. Bowers, II and his wife, Karen J. of Yorktown, VA, Joel H. Bowers and his wife, Sue A. of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Elizabeth A. Long and her husband, Douglas W. of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, Mai Lee Cano of Albuquerque, NM, Bonnie Bowers of Sierra Vista, AZ, Mariah Harrington of Tucson, AZ, Nicole Shields of Tokyo, Bryan J. Bowers of Indianapolis, IN, Robert W. Patrick, IV of Indianapolis, IN, Jason D. Patrick of Bedford; ten great grandchildren, Matthew Cano, Marissa Cano, Tawney Tomlinson, Luke Tomlinson, Skyler Shields, Tomo Shields, Stacey Patrick, Chase Patrick, Samuel Patrick and Nora Patrick. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Mary Ellen Brock and Shirley Albietz. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, March 31st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating.
