Obituary of Mary Wood

Bedford- Mary (Sheeks) Wood, 91, of Bedford died at 7:33 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born September 24, 1918 in Lawrence County she was the daughter of David L. and Opal (Simpson) Sheeks. She married Oren (Monk) Wood on January 1, 1938 and he survives. She was a member of White River Baptist Church. Surviving with her husband Monk are two daughters: Gaylynn Jean and her husband Gary of Bedford, and Kay Wood of Indianapolis, three grandsons, Ross Jean and wife Noelle of Bedford, Bret Jean and wife Tammie of Bedford, Kyle Jean and wife Leah of Heltonville, six great grandchildren, Dairen Jean, Beretta Jean, Dominick Jean, Collen Jean, Chance Jean, and Lainey Jean. She was preceded in death by her: parents, a sister, Ruth Ingle and a brother, Roy Sheeks. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, December 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in White River Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the mortuary.
