Obituary of Ruth Mundy Wood

Bedford Ruth Mundy Wood, 93, passed away at 5:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Formerly of Woodsferry Road, Bedford, she was a resident of Mitchell Manor. Born April 10, 1912, in Martin County near Huron, she was the daughter of Freely and Sophia (Bridges) Mundy. She married Charles A. Wood on June 4, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1982. She had worked at restaurants in Shoals and Burns City, and was a clerk at J.C. Penneys in Bedford. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and the Huron WTK Club. In earlier life, she was a member of the Huron Baptist Church. She enjoyed growing flowers, cooking for family and friends, quilting, and crocheting. She is survived by four nieces, Eleanor Mundy and Joyce Mundy of Bedford, Janet Smith of Huntington, IN, and Patricia Bays of Ocala, FL; seven nephews, Douglas Mundy of Columbus, IN, Sam Mundy, Graydon Mundy and Gordon Mundy all of Bedford, Gary Mundy of Mitchell, Stanley Mundy or Orleans and Martin Mundy of Williams; and one sister-in-law, Evalou (Wood) Roach of Mitchell. Other survivors include several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Ernest, Hilard, Elmer and Raymond. Funeral Information Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 19th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
