Obituary of Robert L. Blythe
Bedford Robert L. Blythe, 91, of Bedford, died at 2:25 am on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 15, 1921 in Bedford, he was the son of William Henry and Celestie S. (Presnell) Blythe. He married Mary Maxine Terrell on October 14, 1942 and she survives. He retired as a machine operator at General Motors and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Bedford; a son, Dennis Lee Blythe and wife, Susan of Oolitic; a daughter, Patricia Ann Clark and husband, Richard of Columbus, IN; four grandchildren, Gary Clark and wife, Michele, Matthew Clark and wife, Laura, Michelle Spear and husband, Gary, Kortni Canada and husband, Matthew; eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Mary A. Davidson, Opal Carman and Belle Tomlinson; two brothers, George and Ervin Blythe; three half-sisters, Inez Blythe, Della Ferguson, Ellen Dietz and a granddaughter, Sondra K. Clark. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, October 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Gary Spear and Rick Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
