Obituary of Joseph J. Blendowski

Bedford Joseph J. Blendowski, 80, of 1804 15th Street, Bedford, died at 4:20 am on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his residence. Born October 15, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of John J. and Frances (Mrowezynski) Blendowski. He married Jean L. Evans and she survives. After school, he joined the Marine Corps. He served for six years, ending his tour at NWSC Crane. He worked at Stone City Construction for thirty years and retired from W.L. Thomas in 1994. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #181for fifty-five years. Survivors include his wife, of fifty-nine years, Jean; a daughter, Martha Arnold and husband, Bill of Mitchell, IN; three sons, Vince Blendowski and wife, Judy of Orange Park, FL, John Blendowski and wife, Debbie of Washington, IN, Jim Blendowski and companion, Evie of Mitchell, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer McNeely, Michelle Roush, Tracey Bogue, Tara Leatherman, Jennie Blendowski, Mark Blendowski, Joe Blendowski, Bryan Burkhart, Brandi Goodreau and Jalynn Blackwell; great grandchildren, Madison McNeely, Olivia Varvel, Gabby McNeely, Jake Stroud, Kaley Roush, Collin Roush, Ellie Roush, Jasmine Jackson, Justin Jackson, Jordon Jackson, Luke Burkhart, Ashley Burkhart, Max Goodreau, Sadi Goodreau and Vander Blendowski; a sister, Alice Zywiczynski of Sloan, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thaddeus, Henry and Edwin Blendowski. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bill Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Cecil C. Martin Post #250 American Legion. Pallbearers are: Cody Roush, Cory Leatherman, Bryan Burkhart, Joe Blendowski, Mark Blendowski and Denver McNeely. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
