Obituary of Sandra Kay Hawkins

Bedford Sandra Kay Hawkins, wife of Sheriff Kent Hawkins, went to be with our Lord and Savior at 3:37 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at her residence. Sandy was born July 7, 1951 to Harry and Roberta I. (Covey) Maddox. She graduated from Shawswick High School. She worked for several years with Indiana Bell Telephone. After her marriage to Kent Hawkins in 1971, she was employed with the North Lawrence School System as a librarian for Parkview Primary for fourteen years. She was then appointed as the Chief Matron of the Lawrence County Security Center. Surviving with her husband, Kent, is one son, Justin Hawkins and his wife, Shauna; one daughter, Misty Dawn Johnson and her husband, Dustin; two grandsons, Trace Allen and Lane Roger; one granddaughter, Jeslyn Kay; her mother, Roberta; one brother, Ronnie Wayne Maddox. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; one brother, Phillip Michael; her maternal grandparents, Dras and Ollie Covey; her paternal grandparents, Cletus and Lessie Maddox. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, January 16th at the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene along State Road #37, with Rev. R. Duane Brown, Dr. M.V. Scutt and Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 14th and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, January 16th at the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene. Pallbearers are Bill, Ted, Denny, Larry and Greg Maddox and Timothy Grissom.
