Obituary of Donald E. Tyree

Columbus Donald E. Tyree, 79, of 3332 Fall Valley Dr., Columbus, formerly of Bedford, died at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Columbus Health and Rehab. Center. Born October 12, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Cloudy and Nina (Guthrie) Tyree. He married Annabelle Long on June 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on August 4, 1998. He retired from the Bedford Fire Department in 1995. He joined the department in 1951.He was appointed fire chief in 1979 and served in that capacity until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bedford and attended the First Church of God. He was a graduate of Bedford High School and a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion, American Fire Association, National Chiefs Association, Bedford Elks Lodge #826 and the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club. Survivors include one son, Richard L. Tyree of Columbus; three grandsons, Rich, Trevor and Tanner Tyree all of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 2nd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Floyd Brick officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 1st and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
