Obituary of Aimee Elizabeth Turner Baker

Bedford Aimee Elizabeth Turner Baker, 81, of Bedford, passed away suddenly November 14, 2003 at Bloomington Hospital. She was born on New Years Day, January 1, 1922 in Avoca, Indiana to Ordia Harold and Arlia Lou (Cecil) Turner. She was welcomed by a brother, Wayne. Later a sister, Jane completed their family. She graduated from Needmore High School in 1939. She married George Abraham Baker on June 24, 1942. He was born on July 4, 1917. They both had holiday birthdays. They traveled all over the United States as George was in the Air Force. When he was discharged they returned to Lawrence County to be with their families. On June 9, 1951 they welcomed a daughter, Beth Ann. They were blessed with another daughter, Bonnie Lynn, on January 22, 1958. She was the first secretary at the new Lincoln Elementary School and worked there for almost twenty five years. She long attended Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene and had many friends there that she considered most dear. Her church was very special to her. She loved the many talented singers and the sermons of Reverend Rogers. Aimee was a very compassionate lady always trying to encourage and help people. She loved to sew, crochet and quilt, often making beautiful gifts for family and friends as well as for anyone she met that she felt needed something to brighten their day. She worked very hard on her home and especially enjoyed sitting on her porch as well as working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed visits from Schnitzel, Izzy, Oddo, Olivia and Skeeter. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She loved taking them shopping. She loved to cook and her favorite times were cooking for them. Anything they did at school, she was always there. She will be greatly missed and always held dear by her family. She is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann and her husband, Robert Ora Inman of Bedford; her grandchildren, Adrain Dain Inman and his fiancee, Rozana Fuentes of Indianapolis, Zachary Nathan Inman, Ashlea Elizabeth Inman and Robert Ethan Seth Inman of Bedford. Their Grandma Aimee was the center of their world. Sh is also survived by a sister-in-law Ruth Turner of Columbus, IN. She was Aunt Aimee to Connie Rott, Carol Bennett, Bill, Neil and Jimmy Baker, Carl and Charles Beauchamp, Ann Keane and a special niece, Cathy Jane Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Wayne Turner in January 1977, her sister Jane Davis in February 1995 and her husband George on May 6, 1979. It broke her heart to lose her daughter Bonnie Lynn on May 8, 1985. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 17th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
