Obituary of Archie V. Turner

Bedford Archie V. Turner, 74, of 591 Donica Church Road, Bedford, died at 4:15 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born April 20, 1933 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Paul E. and Mary Elizabeth (Nethery) Turner. He married Joan E. Knight on January 31, 1953 and she survives. He was a long-time farmer, blacksmith and had worked in the limestone industry as a quarry worker. He was a member of the Dive Christian Church, the Laborers Local #741, Springville Feeder Auction, Cattlemens Association, Farm Bureau and the Norman Conservation Club. He was an avid cattleman, fisherman and coon hunter. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Bedford; three daughters, Paula L. Fraley and her husband, Dr. John E. Fraley of Starke, FL, Patty Chastain and her husband, Doug, Polly Shields and her husband, Robert, all of Bedford; five grandchildren, Ben Nobles, John Paul Chastain, Jessica Lynn Chastain, Isaac Shields and Zachary Shields; three step grandchildren, Ashley Shields, John K. Fraley and Caroline Fraley; two great grandchildren, Lauren and Braxton Nobles; one brother, Bill Turner of Harrodsburg; one sister, Judy Turner of Bedford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Turner. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12th at the Dive Christian Church in Bedford with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt Pleasant Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, April 12th at the Dive Christian Church.
