Obituary of Cecil M. Turner

Spencer Cecil M. Turner, 90, of McCormicks Creek in Spencer, formerly of the Patton Hill Community in Lawrence County, died at 1:27 pm on Monday, December 1, 2003 at his residence. Born July 28, 1913 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ezra and Clonie (Allen) Turner. He married Matrice Gosser on July 1, 1939 and she preceded him in death. He had been employed at Indiana Limestone Co.and NWSC Crane before retiring from custodial and maintenance at Indiana University in Bloomington. He was a member of the Guthrie Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Hudson and her husband, Cecil of Bloomington and Janice Muench and her husband, Pat of Columbus; five grandchildren, Shawn Benham and his wife, Melinda of Bedford, Shannon Benham and his wife, Donna of Spencer, Sheri Hudson of Bloomington, Tammy Hatcher and her husband Dennis of Bedford, Tessa Behymer and her husband Link of Columbus; three step-grandchildren, Dottie Powers and her husband Jim of Terre Haute, Scott Muench and his wife Lisa of Kentucky and Mike Muench and his wife Carrie of Jasper; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and one sister. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 4th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Shannon Benham officiating. Burial will follow in Judah Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 3rd and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
