Obituary of William W. Blackwell
Bedford William W. (Bill) Blackwell, 65, of Bedford, died at 6:58 am on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born July 7, 1945 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Robert W. and Edith M. (Wray) Blackwell. He was a graduate of the Monon High School with the class of 1963. He retired as a die maker for General Motors in Bedford and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church, the Oolitic V.F.W., Eagles Aerie #654, Gillen Post #33 American Legion and U.A.W. Local #440.
Survivors include two daughters, Misty D. Swayer and husband, Jonathan of Orleans, Tracy D. Lounsbery and husband, Jason of Morgantown, IN; a son, William J. Blackwell and wife, Carrie of Bedford; five grandchildren, Evan Swayer, Emma Swayer, Riley Lounsbery, Emerson Lounsbery and Katelyn Blackwell; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Lena M. Hawkins of Georgia and Janet K. Sowders of Avoca. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert J. Blackwell. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Phil McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bedford where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
