Obituary of Charles E. Sykes

Bedford Charles E. Sykes, 69, of 512 S Street, Bedford, died at 4:35 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born June 19, 1938, in Bedford, he was the son of Warner and Carrie (Ray) Sykes. He married Bonnie Smith on April 8, 1958 and she survives. He was a construction worker and owner of Sykes & Sons Concrete Co. He attended Glad Tidings Church in Bedford and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Surviving is his wife, Bonnie of Bedford; three sons, Jeff Sykes, Scott Sykes and his wife, Kimberly and Brad Sykes and his wife, Katrina all of Bedford; one granddaughter, Krista Blevins and her husband, Kyle of Bloomington; one sister, Teresa Barker of Bedford; one brother, Arthur Sykes of Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Juanita and Mildred Sykes. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Joshua Sykes three brothers, Glen, Dallas and Chester Sykes; one sister, Virginia Sykes. Funeral Information Private services will be conducted at a later date. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
