Obituary of Elbert O. Hubbard

BedfordElbert O. Hubbard, 89, of Art Gallery Road, Bedford, died at 7:30 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born March 31, 1914 in Budha, IN, he was the son of Noble and Flora (Mahorney) Hubbard. He married Roberta Hawk in 1937 and she died in 1944. He then married Thelma Matthews in 1945 and she survives. He was the owner of Hubbard Grocery in Bedford and formerly worked at Chase Chevrolet for many years. Surviving with his wife, Thelma, are two sons, Larry Hubbard of Florida and David Hubbard of Bedford; one daughter, Peggy Mattix of Mitchell; one step-daughter, Patricia Gallops of Ft. Wayne, IN; two brothers, Noble Eugene of Corydon, IN and Carl of New Jersey; one sister, Bessie Edwards of Bedford; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta; his parents; three brothers, Winifred, Paul and Jim; three sisters, Eva Pearl Hubbard, Helen Taylor and Frances Boone. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
