Obituary of Robert Bex

Bedford Robert (Bob) Bex, 80, of Bedford, died at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Bloomington Select Hospital. Born August 6, 1925 in Williams, IN, he was the son of John Logan and Manie (Terrell) Bex. He married Doris L. Maick on February 5, 1944, and she survives. He was a life long resident of Lawrence County. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps at Hickam Air Field in Hawaii. Bob was employed at Central Foundry Division of General Motors and retired in 1982 after thirty-two years of service. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and U.A.W. Local #440. An avid outdoorsman, Bob spent many years hunting in the hills of Indiana with friends and family members. He played with the Bedford ACs baseball team and played both fast pitch and slow pitch softball with several teams. Surviving with his wife, Doris, are two children; daughter, Sonya Riddle and her husband, Kyle W. Riddle, Jr. of Orlando, FL, son, Robert Bex, II and his wife, Patty Turner Bex of Bedford; sisters, Ruth Hutsell of Indianapolis, Lucile Williams of Bloomfield, Sarah Francis Bright of Anderson; brother, Russell Bex of Columbus, IN; five grandchildren, Soni McCarty and her husband, Art, of Sanford, FL, Regiena Maxwell and her husband, Carlos of St. Cloud, FL, Kyle W. Riddle, III of Seattle, WA, Robin Bex of Bloomington, Jennifer Bex of Indianapolis; two step-grandchildren, Matthew Turner and his wife, Dianna of Bedford, Angela Chase and her husband, Joe of Springville; great-grandchildren, Gia, Mari and Carlos Maxwell II, Allie and Kenzie McCarty; step great-grandchildren, Lauren and Garrett Turner, Taylor and Ashley Chase and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Grace Doane and Ida Trueblood; four brothers, Dennis, Logan, Glen and Raymond Bex and a daughter-in-law, Claudia Helton Bex. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 6th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. John Dodd and Rev. Glenn Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
