Obituary of Donald R. Strunk

Bedford Donald R. Strunk, 70, of Bedford, died at 9:23 am on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford. Born July 8, 1940 in Springville, he was the son of Luther and Sena (Owens) Strunk. He married Karen L. Anderson on August 15, 1963 and she preceded him in death on December 4, 1991. He later married Sandra R. Perry in April 1994 and she survives. He was a die maker for General Motors retiring after 31.7 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church. He loved camping, antiques and clocks. Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Bedford; a daughter, Becky (Strunk) Pruett and husband, Trent of Mitchell; a son, Tim Strunk and wife, Jamie of Bedford; two step-daughters, Pamela Vowell and husband, Jim of Bedford, Carmela Bartlett and husband, Mike of Stuart, FL; a step-son, Kenny Perry and wife, Sherri of Orleans; two brothers, Robert Strunk of Nashville, TN and Claude Strunk and wife, Katherine of Taswell; two sisters, Betty Edwards Pencek and husband, Joe of Kokomo and Linda Phillips and husband, Larry of Springville; grandchildren whom he adored, Amanda Lawson and husband, Shawn, Julie Kellams and fiance Charlie Hobor, Elisabeth Strunk, Matthew Strunk, Emma Pruett and Justin Pruett; step-grandchildren, James Bartlett, Cameron Bartlett, Corey Keith and wife, Amanda, Eric Keith and wife, Amanda, Jacob Mathers, Jake Perry, Kenley Perry and Eli Mathers and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a brother, Eugene Strunk; two sisters, Bonnie Silvers and LuAnn Strunk (in infancy); a brother-in-law, Jim Edwards and nephew, Mike Strunk. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, August 2nd at the Hillcrest Christian Church with Pastors Mark Fugate and Charlie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, August 2nd at the Hillcrest Christian Church.
