Obituary of Ruth E. Stewart

Bedford Ruth E. Stewart, 84, a resident of Westview Manor, died at 8:20 pm on Monday, April 12, 2004 at Westview Manor. Born September 5, 1919 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of James and Cora A. (Goodman) Hillenberg. She married Gordon W. Stewart on March 31, 1935 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1992. She and her husband operated Stewarts Grocery in Needmore for many years. She was a member of the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Blackwell and her husband, Dean of Bedford; one daughter-in-law, Sue Stewart of Bedford; two sisters, Helen Chasteen of Terre Haute and Thelma Glasgow of Bedford; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maurice and Jeanette Franklin of Florida; four grandchildren, Brian Blackwell and Billie Landstrom both of Bedford, Randy Stewart and Kim Ross both of Colorado; twelve great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,William Bill Stewart; one grandson; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; four brothers, Thurman, Freeland and Winfred Hillenberg and Stanley (in infancy). Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, April 16th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 15th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, April 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
