Obituary of Mary Stapp

Bedford Mary R. Stapp, 75, of 2405 M Street, Bedford, died at 5:28 am on Friday, June 25, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born October 31, 1928 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Palmer E. and Hattie (Rhue) Hodges. She was employed in the Lawrence County Court House for forty-five years. She was first elected in 1979 as the County Assessor and served in various assessing positions within the Court House. She was currently the Deputy County Assessor. She was a member of the Community Baptist Fellowship in Bedford, American Legion Auxiliary and Womens Republican Club. Throughout the years, she supported her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Survivors include two daughters, April Collins of Bedford and Kim Vest and her husband, Michael of Bloomfield; one son, Jim Stapp and his wife, Deborah of Indianapolis; one brother, Kenneth Hodges of Bedford; five grandchildren, Allison Stapp, Kyle Collins, Stevie Collins, Jeremy Vest and Stacy Lowry and her husband, Chad; two great grandchildren, Gage and Gracie Lowry; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Margaret Bridwell; two brothers, Eugene and Charles Hodges. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Monday, June 28th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 27th and from 9:30 am until the hour of service on Monday, June 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
