Obituary of Dorsie Spaulding

Bedford Dorsie Spaulding, 92, of Bedford, went home at 3:20 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.Born February 6, 1916 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of John H. and Nannie (Sasser) Perry. She married Charles W. Spaulding on June 19, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1988. She retired after thirty-five years with RCA in Bloomington. She was a member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church and attended the Stonegate Faith Center for the last several years. Survivors include one son, Jan Spaulding and his wife, Martie of Bedford; two daughters, Gaytha (Spaulding) Tanksley and her husband, Donald of Heltonville and Renae (Spaulding) Ratkovich and her husband, James M. of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Shelia (Tanksley) Howard and her husband, Courtney of Oklahoma, Sheryl (Tanksley) Hawkins and her husband, Steve of Bedford, Shawn David Tanksley of Texas, Leah Lee and her husband, Bryan of Texas, Darren Spaulding and his wife, Kristi of Texas, Bryce Spaulding of Texas, Mandy Ward and her husband, Chris of Bedford, Autumn Bailey and her husband, Kevin of Bedford, Shane Tristan Sherrill and his wife, Michelle of Texas, Shay Tarren Sherrill of Bedford, Shannon Trent Sherrill and his wife, Laura of Virginia, Melissa D. (Ratkovich) Spreen and her husband, Tim of Bedford, Jimmy E. Ratkovich and his wife, Breanna of Bedford; twenty great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one sister, Lyla Jane Roberts of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Reba Loretta Elliott and Beatrice Perry (in infancy) and one brother, Crit Clovis Perry. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 1st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jeff Nikirk and Rev. Steve Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 31st and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, April 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary. View Video Tribute
