Obituary of Florence Sowder

Heltonville- Florence Sowder, 82, of 2935 Pleasant Run Road, Heltonville, IN, died at 12:42 am on Sunday July 30, 2006 at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born June 8, 1924, she was the daughter of Delmar Russell and Laura (Kirk) Smale. She married Birtle Roy Sowder on December 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Heltonville Christian Church. Survivors include her children, Larry Dean (Butch) Sowder and his wife Nancy of Bartlettsville, Rita Thompson and her husband John of Bloomington, and D. Randy Sowder and his wife Gina of New Whiteland; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Jason, Kevin, Kelly, Kyle, Cindy, David, and Robert; four step-grandchildren; Michael, Jennifer, Tracy, and Melissa; seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Sydney, Courtney, Tanner, Paris, Bailey, and Kyra; one sister, Gertrude Goodman of Heltonville; two brothers-in-law, Plass Johnson of Bedford, and Gerald Sowder of Bedford; two sisters-in-law Mildred Acuff of Ellettsville, and Freedona Scott of Heltonville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one great grandson Justin, one brother Jerry Smale, three sisters, Emma Lee Johnson, Helen Baker, and Marjorie Ford. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 2nd at the Bartlettsville Christian Church with Bro. Larry Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartlettsville Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary, and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Bartlettsville Christian Church.
