Obituary of Josephine G. Southern

Bedford Josephine G Southern, 79, of Bedford, died at 5:21 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born February 18, 1934 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Earl and Eva Lena (Kinser) Ramsay. She married Lowell K. Southern on July 6, 1956 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2004. She retired as an incoming quality inspector at Visteon after thirty-six years. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and an avid Euchre player. Survivors include a son, Colby Southern and wife, Carol of Springville; two daughters, Lisa Southern Cummings and husband, Tim, Tami Sears and husband, Tony all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Jason Henson and wife, Shannon, Mindy Warren and husband, Robbie, Shane Sargent and wife, Jessica, Corey Southern and wife, Erica, Matt Southern and wife, Lauren, Colson Cummings and Clayton Cummings all of Bedford; six great grandchildren, Garrett, Britta, Bella, Brodi, Dillon and Evan; two brothers, Harry (Avis) Ramsay and Jim (Louise) Ramsay; a sister, Mabel (Harry) Axsom. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Hazel Norman and Ruth Ann (in infancy). Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry and Pastor Ronnie Covey officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
