Obituary of Lonnie E. South

Lonnie E. South, 68, of Bedford, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by his family. Born, February 26, 1946 in Muncie Indiana, he was the son of Willard South and Georgia (Gerhing) McGill. Lonnie was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #250 in Mitchell, Indiana and he retired from NAVFC Crane Naval Base where he was a purchasing agent. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Brenda (Matherly) Finke South, his children, Missi (South) Harrell (Jeff) of Bedford, Denise (Finke) Frey (Eric) of Cloverdale, Tina (Finke) Scott (Robert) of Bloomington and Dennis Finke Jr. of Terre Haute, ten grandchildren, Maleah, Jacob and Josh Harrell, Kayla Pyne and Kirsten Frey, Jaxon and Landon, Dennis III, Alivia and Aaliyah Finke, four sisters, Marilyn Goodman (Dennis), Sharon Russell (Roger), Shirley Terrell (Ronnie), Susie Hall, one brothers, Walter Tic McGill of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David South. Funeral Information The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm Monday, August 18, 2014 at Day and Carter Funeral Home in Bedford. A memorial service will be 7:00pm Monday at Day and Carter Funeral Home with Richard Holt officiating.
