Obituary of Charles L. Sons

BedfordCharles L. Sons, 85, of Bedford and formerly of Greenwood, passed away at 4:52 P.M. Saturday, September 17th at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born August 16, 1920 he was the son of Louis Connie Sons and Goldie Mae Hughes. He married Betty Hill on August 27, 1939 and she preceded him in death on October 5, 1984. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33, the Brookside Lodge # 720 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Murat Shriners of Indianapolis; he was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge # 654, VFW Post #1686, Moose Lodge # 689, and also a member of the UAW Local # 1111. Surviving are two daughters: Linda C. Johnson and her husband, Ed of Bedford and Patti Branaman of Bedford. Five grandchildren; Jeff Johnson of Indianapolis, Lisa Brinkworth of Bedford, Sherri Hampton of Greenwood, Kristy Endris of Bedford, and Tim Branaman of Bedford. twelve great grandchildren; Josh Chastain of Anderson, Joseph Chastain, Jade Brinkworth, Michael Endris, Hannah Branaman, and Madison Branaman all of Bedford, Andrew Hampton, Ali Hampton, and Aaren Hampton all of Greenwood, Kelli Johnson, Ethan Johnson, and Molly Johnson all of Indianapolis; one brother; Morris Red Sons of Carmel, IN; and one sister; Donnie Troxel of Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers John and Marvin Sons, and one son-in-law Gene Branaman. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 21st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Gary Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the grave by members of the American Legion Post #33. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00pm Tuesday at the Mortuary. View Video Tribute
