Obituary of Russell H. Smith

Bedford Russell H. Smith, 85, of 2496 Judah-Logan Road, Bedford, died at 4:03 pm on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born January 6, 1922 in Monroe Co., he was the son of Marshall and May (Kinser) Smith. He married Kathleen Ellen Stafford on February 7, 1942 and she survives. He was a farmer and mill worker. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army from November 3, 1942 through January 6, 1946 and was a member of the Judah Church of Christ. Surviving with his wife, Kathleen are three sons, Ron Smith and his wife, Brenda, Russell W. Cutt and Trish, Mike Smith and his wife, Jill all of Bedford; two daughters, Ellen Sears and her husband, Paul, Rita Hawkins and her husband, Richard all of Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and one sister, Margie Hillenburg of Heltonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Maxine Eads and Freeda Smith and one brother, Paul Smith. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, January 4th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Larry Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
