Obituary of James Hornocker
Bedford James Hornocker, Sr. 88, of Beford, passed away at 9:15 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Johnsons Christian Village in Bedford.
Born March 4, 1923 in Bedford, he was the son of Claude and Stella (Inman) Hornocker. He married Deloris Riechman on September 2, 1950 and she preceded him in death. He was retired from General Motors and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army Infantry in the European Theatre and where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford, Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, Scottish Rite and Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include one son, Jim Hornocker and wife, Mary Lou of Mitchell; two daughters, Karen Hughes of Bedford and Sherry Slessinger and husband, Mick of Bloomington; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Monday by members of Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM.
