Obituary of Lowell F. Smith

Bloomington Lowell F. Smith, 78, of 5510 W. Cobblestone Street, Bloomington, IN, formerly of Bedford, passed from this life at 10:33 am on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital with family and friends present. Born March 12, 1933 in Blankenship, IN (Lawrence Co.), he was the son of the late Otho and Addie Mae (Smoot) Smith. He married Norma Mosier on May 8, 1963 in Lawrenceville, IL and she survives. He was employed by his father at Hi-Q-Lo-P in Bedford and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking. He enjoyed riding horses and spending time with family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 161 F & AM in Oolitic. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Bloomington; three daughters, Lana Smith of Phoenix, AZ Toni (Smith) Kress and husband, Curt of Bedford and Cindi (Smith) Severance and husband, Dean of Bloomington; a son Larry Smith and wife, Mary Jane of Washington State; grandchildren, Jessica (Kopp) Mills and husband, Jeff Mills, Jeremy Kopp and wife, Kristle (Hatfield) Kopp, Jackie (Hamby) Fultz, Jarica Hamby, Callie (Teague) Noble and husband, John, Don Kress and wife, Brittany, Morgan (Kress) Hill and husband, Kaden and Rebecca Kress; twenty great grandchildren; a sister, Janice (Blackwell) Root and husband, Morris of Bedford; a brother, Warren Smith and wife, Janet of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Smith; a sister, Charlotte Lewis and husband, Bill; one brother, Chester Smith. Funeral Information Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A celebration of life will be conducted at 7:30 pm on Monday, October 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
