Obituary of Paul E. Smith
Bedford, Paul E. Smith (Pap), 74, of 966 Elkins Road in Bedford, died at 1:59 pm at the Bloomington Hospital.
Born on November 1, 1930 in Monroe County, he was the son of Marshall and May (Kinser) Smith. He married Marilyn Sowders on August 8, 1951 and she survives. He was retired from the I.U. Police Department after twenty-five years of service. He was a member of the Chapel Hill Calvary Mission Church and was a veteran of Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
Surviving with the wife, Marilyn of Bedford, is one daughter: Paula East and her husband, Joe of Bedford; one sister: Margie Hillenburg and her husband Phillip of Heltonville; one brother: Russell Smith and his wife, Kathleen, of Bedford; four grandchildren: Valerie Arthur and her husband, Jeff of Bedford; Jody East and his wife, Jennifer of Bedford; Cody East and his wife, Sara of Bedford; Charity Nolan and her husband Jeremy of Bedford; eleven great grandchildren: Makenzie, Jerrad, Levi, Jobe, Jaden, Alex, Jess, Carter, Garrett, Halley and Maxwell; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 20th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Gerald Flynn and Michael Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartlettsville Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 19th and from 9:00 am until the hours of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
