Obituary of Leona Hawkins

Leona Hawkins Leona Hawkins, 86, of Bedford, formerly of Springville, died at 11:29 am on Friday, November 19, 2010 at Westview Manor. Born January 14, 1924 in Lawrence Co, she was the daughter of Grover and Adaline Stewart. She married Opal Ellis Hawkins and he precedes her in death. Leona worked at RCA in Bloomington where she retired. She attended Chapel Hill Pentecostal Church. Survivors include four sons, Ellis R. Hawkins and wife Cindy of Bloomington, Roger L. Hawkins and wife Pamela of Salem, Larry Joe Hawkins and companion Mary Fox of Mitchell, David D. Hawkins and wife Pamela E. of Springville; one daughter, Alice Fern of Bedford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Hillenburg of Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Vernon Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Springville West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
