Obituary of James M. Slate

Bedford James M. Slate, 86, of 3008 S. Shawnee Dr., Bedford, died at 2:35 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born December 13, 1920 in Nelson, GA, he was the son of Oscar and Savanah Slate. He married Ruth Sipes on April 10, 1942 and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2006. He was retired as the branch manager for Avco Financial Services. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Mike Slate and his wife, Lynda and John Slate all of Bedford; four grandchildren, Darren Slate, Jamie Carter, Todd Dunec and Sarah Hutcherson all of Bedford; eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Roy, Ralph and Bill Slate; two sisters, Inez and Gladys; one daughter, Judy Dunec and one granddaughter, Rosemary Slate. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, January 26th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kregg Burris officiating.
