Obituary of Ruth Slate

Bedford Ruth Slate, 82, of Bedford, died at 7:33 am on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born October 24, 1923 in Silverville, she was the daughter of Opal and Mary (Hall) Sipes. She married Jim Slate on April 10, 1942 and he survives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford for over fifty years. Surviving with her husband, Jim, are two sons, Mike Slate and his wife, Lynda and John Slate all of Bedford; grandchildren, Darren Slate, Jamie Carter, Todd Dunec and Sarah Hutcherson; great grandchildren, Nathan Dunec, Annette Slate, Brittany Grissom, Gwendalyn Crews and Braden Hutcherson; step-great grandchildren, Rachelle Cobb, Jonathan Garlock and JR Garlock. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Judy Dunec; one granddaughter, Rosemary Slate; two sisters, Dorothy Risen and Donna Taylor. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 9th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Dr. Rev. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
