Obituary of Harold E. Silvers

Bloomington-Harold E. Chief Silvers, 72, of 1211 West 2nd Street Bloomington passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24th of cancer at his home in Bloomington, Indiana. Born June 6, 1936 in Burnside, Kentucky he was the oldest son of Frank O. and Eva K. Silvers. He was a retired employee of Otis Elevator in Bloomington and prior to his employment at Otis he worked at Indiana Limestone and 4-R Quarries along side his dad and brother. He married Shay Jean Roberts on February 2, 1957 and she preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Silvers, Kirkman) Coleman and her husband Dan and grandson Bradley Joe Kirkman all of Atlanta, Georgia; his son Dwayne Silvers and his wife Jody and their children and grandchildren of Decatur, Illinois. Also surviving are two brothers and four sisters and their families: Billy and Jeanette Silvers, Jack and Marsha Silvers all of Bedford, Elizabeth Stigall of Somerset, KY, Edna Padgett of Springville/Owensburg, IN, Linda and Steve Burrows of Evertt, Washington, and Rose E. Kimmel of Springville/Harrodsburg, IN and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, two brother-in-laws, Ernest Stigall and Wilkie Padgett. Funeral Information It was his wish not to have public visitation or funeral services. A private family memorial will be planned for a later date. Donations Information In lieu of flowers it was Harolds request that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Care group of Bloomington Hospital.
