Obituary of John Algon Shrout

Bloomington John Algon Shrout, 89, of Bloomington, formerly of Bedford, died at 12:15 am on Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Beverly Health Care Center, formerly the Fontainbleu Nursing Home in Bloomington where he had resided since February. He had been in failing health. Born September 20, 1913 in Lawrence County, he was the son of John A. and Annabelle (Radcliff) Shrout. He married Mae West on October 30, 1936 and she died May 26, 1992. He was a retired millwright for the NWSC Crane and attended the Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #689. Survivors include one son, Jack Shrout of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Maria Foddrill of Bloomington and Lynn Dugan of Thorntown, IN; six great grandchildren; one nephew, Kenneth E. Allen of Wisconsin; two nieces, Helen Spaulding of Texas and Mary Robertson of New Castle, IN; several cousins, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18th, from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Michael Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Moose rites will be accorded at 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
