Obituary of Stanley H. Shipsides DVM

Bedford Stanley H. (Doc) Shipsides, DVM, of 1138 Lincoln Ave., Bedford, IN, died at 9:05 am on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born December 20, 1919 in Lakeworth, FL, he was the son of George and Elsie (Mercklen) Shipsides. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario and worked at Wellington & Sterling in Ontario, Canada. He was a veterinarian for sixty years working in Flora, Indiana and in Bedford since 1975. He worked with the Indiana State Board of Animal Health. He was a life-long member of the NRA, a member of the Indiana Veterinary Assoc and the Bedford Elks Lodge. He was involved with the World Aid Project concerning the exportation of large animals to third world countries. Survivors include Myra Colglazier, his significant other and assistant for many years; one daughter, Karen Gamble Jamsek and her husband, Filip of Guelph, Ontario Canada; two sons, John Shipsides and his wife, Wendy of Guelph, Ontario Canada and Jerry Shipsides and his wife, Eva of Ancaster, Ontario Canada; one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bea Shipsides and grandparents. Funeral Information No calling hours are scheduled. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Day & Carter Mortuary.
