Obituary of Irvin Sherrill

Bedford Irvin Sherrill, 76, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord at 12:07 pm on Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born January 3, 1931 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of George Albert and Mabel (Ramsey) Sherrill. He married Roberta M. Kern on June 2, 1951 and she survives. He was a graduate of the Heltonville High School with the class of 1950. He was employed in die cast at General Motors for nineteen years and was a stock handler for Kroger Stores in Bedford and New Albany for twenty-two years. Irvin was a member of the Dive Christian Church where he had served in various offices for forty-five years. He loved the Lord and did the Lords work helping others and being there for them. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the Broadview Bowling Club, the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI), U.A.W. Local #440 and U.F.C.W. Local #227. Irvin enjoyed spending winters in Melbourne, FL where he attended the Harbor City Christian Church. Surviving with his wife, Roberta, are two sons, Timothy Alan Sherrill and his wife, Debbie, George Edward Sherrill and his wife, Paulette all of Bedford; one daughter, Julie Ann Keith and her husband, Lionel of Mitchell; ten grandchildren, Debra Wright, Leslee Staggs and her husband, Jeff, Jamie Magill and her husband, Josh, Beth Hayes and her husband, J.D., Jennifer Denesha and her husband, Paul, Meghan and Marci Carmichael, Brandon Umphress, Brenda and Kyle Keith; seventeen great grandchildren, Tierra, Donna and Matthew Wampler, Janet Wright, Trenadee and Landon Staggs, Katie Voorhies, Sadie and Trevor Magill, Alex Crane, Wil and Anna Hayes, Avery and Hayden Denesha, Cayden and Riley Keith and Branson Keith; one sister, Mary Wynkoop of Lebanon, IN; two brothers, Kenneth Sherrill and his wife, Jeannie and Ralph Sherrill and his wife, Phyllis all of Norman, IN and one sister-in-law, Ruth Sherrill of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Julie Loy Sherrill; one brother, Clyde Sherrill; one sister, Stella Adams. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 19th at the Dive Christian Church with Johnny Johnson and Phil McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, April 19th at the Dive Christian Church.
