Obituary of Ruby I. Shelton

BedfordRuby I. Shelton, 80, of 427 Bailey Scales Road in Bedford, passed away at 4:35 P.M. Friday, December 9th at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born May 23, 1925 in Salem, IN, she was the daughter of Orville Lessig and Julia Ann (Cole) Lessig. She married Gerald Bud Shelton on December 13, 1942 and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1996. She was a homemaker. Surviving are five sons: Chester Shelton and his wife, Ursula of Bedford, Arnold Shelton of Bedford, Jerry Shelton and his wife, Jackie of Mitchell, Steve Shelton and his wife, Sandra of Shoals and Jim Shelton and his wife, Linda of Mitchell; one daughter: Sheila Shelton of Bedford; a close personal friend: Diana Hudson of Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Leroy Lessig of Mitchell and Roy Lessig of Sarasota, FL; one sister: Janet Miller of Illinois and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Richard, Michael, Harold Woody and Perry Lessig and six sisters: Maxine Waterson, Norma Jean Chastain, Judy Lessig, Josephine Henson and twin sisters in infancy. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating.
