Obituary of Chester Paul Shelton

Bedford Chester Paul Shelton, 70, of Bedford, died at 7:30 am on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Garden Villa in Bedford. Born July 22, 1943, he was the son of Gerald D. and Ruby (Lessig) Shelton. He retired from Otis Elevator as an assembler and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam War. Survivors include his children, Crystal Ray and husband, Jerry and DeeAndra Hammond all of Bedford, Bonnie Shelton, Angela Reed, Susan VanWinkle and David Olsen; his companion, Ursula Newsome of Bedford; grandchildren, Josh, Ashley, Tyler, Kayla, Jacob and Katelyn; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; four brothers, Steve Shelton of Shoals, Jerry Shelton of Mitchell, Doc Shelton of Bedford and Jim Shelton of Mitchell; a sister, Sheila Shelton of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Memorial Services are scheduled at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will be in Bass Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
