Obituary of Bessie R. Adams

Bedford Bessie R. Adams, 106, of Bedford, went home to be with her Lord at 12:00 am on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born February 13, 1902 in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of Henry A. and Elizabeth (Neely) Schell. She married Thomas R. Adams on May 1, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1968. Bessie worked at the Harvey Department Store in Nashville, TN for thirty-two years and was a bookkeeper for Nashville Lumber. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Survivors include three grandchildren, Shirley (McFadden) Brown, Nancy (McFadden) Phipps and William L. McFadden and his wife, Beverly all of Bedford; six great grandchildren, Kelly Herndon, Mark Brown, Aimee Phipps, John McFadden, Emily Compton and Aaron Phipps; nine great great grandchildren, Tyler Herndon, Eric Herndon, Dylan Parsley, Abigael Parsley, Alexandria Parsley, Reece Compton, Mia Compton, Zoe Brown and Brooke Phipps; four step-children, Hester Haynes of Georgia, Bob Adams and his wife, Betty of Missouri and Tom Adams of California and June MacIndoe of South Carolina; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Thelma McFadden and son-in-law, James Robert McFadden; four sisters; three brothers; seven step-children, David Adams, Rex Adams, Verna Rhoads, Paul Adams, Douglas Adams, Arrietta Stypinski and Eugene Adams. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17th at the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with Pastor Fred Barger officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday, June 17th at the Mt.
