Obituary of Mona Saunders
Bedford - Mona Saunders was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 8th, 2010.
Mona was born August 13th, 1916 in Malta, Montana the daughter of Tom and Vina (Nadeau) Mahoney. She later met and married the love of her life David Oglesby Saunders Jr. in Flagstaff, Arizona. From there, the couple moved to California where they raised their family and owned & operated two donut shops. David and Mona eventually traveled to Salem, Oregon and settled there to help their sons in the family appliance business.
After her husbands death in 1985, Mona spent many summers in Bedford, Indiana with her daughter Barbara. Mona loved visiting her Indiana family and many happy memories were made on her visits there. When Mona could no longer travel, Barbara spent her summers in Oregon with her mother. Mona moved to Bedford to live with her daughter, Barbara in November 2009.
Mona is survived by three daughters, Donna Jaccard of Salem, Oregon, Jean Saunders of Dallas, Oregon, and Barbara Murphy of Bedford; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years; three sons, David, John, and Jim Saunders; and two daughters in infancy, Iona and Karen.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass in Monas memory at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Father Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Graveside services will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
