Obituary of John E. Rowe

Oolitic John E. Rowe, 67, of Oolitic, lifes journey ended at 9:30 am on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove, IN. Born July 12, 1943 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Rufo and Virginia (Waldon) Rowe. He married Pauline Sexton on September 4, 1964 and she survives. He retired from RCA/ Thomson Consumer Electronics in Bloomington. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of V.F.W. in Oolitic and Gillen Post #33 American Legion. John loved his family, his dog (Elsie), his truck and Oolitic. Survivors include his wife, Pauline, of Oolitic; a daughter, Melissa Rowe of Oolitic; a grandson, Shane Rowe of Oolitic; several cousins, nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law; brother and sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Rowe (in infancy) and a sister, Patty Sturgill. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23rd and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, February 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
